I'm getting ''can't transfer file: permission denied' error when upgrading
I'm getting ''can't transfer file: permission denied' error when upgrading
Solution
When version 1.01 came out, the vast majority of the
files have permissions set to 444 instead of 644, since 444 is read only it
won't allow the files to be overwritten on some servers. If you change the
permissions to 644 there's no problem. You will need to make note of the folders
where the file transferred failed, so you can find them to change the
permissions. One way to do this is to pause the file transfer if you start
getting these error messages. Then look at the files that are listed on your
computer, and change the permissions for those same file names that are listed
on your web server to 644. You can select multiple files at once by holding down
the CTRL key while selecting them, then in most FTP programs you can right click
to find the 'CHMOD' option. It may also be referred to as 'file attributes' or
something similar depending on your FTP program.
